The desktop application displays alerts when it performs certain actions (for example, when a file is being synchronized) or something occurred that requires your attention. These alerts are displayed as notifications in the notification area on the taskbar.
By default, desktop application alerts are enabled. For instructions on disabling desktop alerts, see Configuring the desktop application.
The sections below explains the alerts that the application displays and any actions you may need to take in response to them.
Approaching quota
You've used 90% of your storage quota.
HCP Anywhere does not synchronize files in the HCP Anywhere folder that are greater in size than the space remaining in your quota.
Do one of these:
- To free up space in your quota, delete files from or move files out of your HCP Anywhere folder.
- Ask your HCP Anywhere administrator to increase your storage quota.
Can't connect
The application cannot connect to the HCP Anywhere system. Do one of these:
- Check your Internet connection.
- Ensure that the hostname for the HCP Anywhere server is correct. For more information, see Configuring the desktop application.
Conflict files present
The HCP Anywhere folder contains one or more conflict files.
For information on:
- Conflicts and how to resolve them, see Handling conflicts.
- Viewing a list of conflict files, see Viewing the sync status of your files.
Connection reestablished
The application has reconnected to the HCP Anywhere system. No action is required.
Storage quota exceeded
One or more files in the HCP Anywhere folder cannot be uploaded to the HCP Anywhere system because your storage quota has been exceeded. This happens when your HCP Anywhere administrator lowers your storage quota to a size that's less than the size of the files you've stored in HCP Anywhere.
To resume normal operation, do one of these:
- To free up space in your quota, delete or remove files from your HCP Anywhere folder.
The User Portal displays the amount of space by which your quota has been exceeded. For information, see Viewing storage space.
When you do this, the desktop application may take up to an hour to synchronize files that you added to the HCP Anywhere folder while your storage quota was exceeded. For more information, see Working with files with the desktop application while in excess of your storage quota.
- Ask your HCP Anywhere administrator to increase your storage quota.
Syncing changes
Changes are being synchronized. No action is required.
Sync complete
Synchronization has finished. No action is required.
Unsyncable files present
The HCP Anywhere folder contains one or more files that cannot be synchronized.
For information on:
- Viewing a list of files that cannot be synchronized, see Viewing the sync status of your files.
- Reasons why files aren't synchronized, see Understanding synchronization errors.
Update available
A new version of the desktop application is available for download from the HCP Anywhere system. For more information, see Upgrading the desktop application.
